Islands Artisans Holiday Market

November 28th- November 29th 10am-5pm

Find unique, island- made gifts for everyone on your list and support not only the local makers.

Island Artisans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1976 to raise scholarship funds for young artists within the community. The holiday market is the primary fundraiser for those scholarships. It is a juried show and sale by San Juan County artists, with each participating artist donating 10% of their sales to support the scholarship program. More than $15,000 in scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors annually.

Chardonnay Shopping

December 4th All Day

To the many new residents on the island, Chardonnay Shopping is an annual event where we shop on a specific day to support our local businesses and restaurants. Most of the businesses and restaurants entice shoppers with special discounts and or extended hours, and or drawings with purchase and or snacks and beverages. Many people get a small group together and wear fun holiday hats or something festive to identify themselves as Chardonnay Shoppers. Some choose to start in the morning and then go to lunch at their favorite restaurant and then continue shopping. It is very fun to act like a tourist in your own town and to see so many locals out and about.

First Friday Art Walk

Every first Friday of the month local galleries and shops will stay open late for an Art Walk! Look out for the window decals and the list of participating venues on our Facebook page.

Old Fashioned Christmas Market

The Old-Fashioned Christmas Market will light up historic Brickworks again this year! The popular event features a holiday crafts market, island food vendors, local farm products, live music, local libations, and activities for kids and grownups alike. Festivities will take place over two days; Friday, December 12th from 10am-7pm, and Saturday, December 13th from 10am-3pm.

ABOUT WINTERFEST

Welcome to San Juan Island Winterfest, a celebration of our island's best holiday events, island artisans and local businesses, all together in one place! You'll find "Something for Everyone" this month, from the famous Tree Lighting Ceremony to our brand-new Holiday Scavenger Hunt, from classic holiday concerts and shows to special Shop Local Deals from your favorite local businesses. Welcome to the new San Juan Island Winterfest!

WHERE TO SLEEP

If you thought San Juan Island was only a summer town, think again! Winterfest is the perfect time to enjoy the lush greenery, open trails and idyllic nature and wildlife of San Juan Island. If you are planning to come overnight, we suggest staying at one of our two favorite local hotels. The Trumpeter Inn is a cozy, intimate B&B located on a gorgeous farm just outside town. If you'd prefer to stay right in town, we suggest The Friday Harbor Suites, the best all-in-one hotel on the island located a short walk from all the action down-town. After a long day enjoying the events of Winterfest, The Trumpeter Inn and the Friday Harbor Suites are the perfect places to put your feet up and enjoy some hot cocoa and a great night's sleep!

WHAT TO EAT

San Juan Island has tons of local restaurants and cafes that serve up great fare year-round. For breakfast or lunch, we recommend Salty Fox Coffee, located right across from the Friday Harbor ferry landing. Try the Pesto Rice Bowl! For locally roasted coffee, walk down to Friday Harbor Roasters on the pier. We suggest grabbing a bag of island-roasted coffee to take home. For a sit-down meal, swing by SJI Golf Club for breakfast or lunch at their Greenside Grill -- we recommend their amazing burger. Here's to good food all season long!
